Sachin Maharaj

Chief Executive Officer

Sachin commenced his career with PwC Sydney as a chartered accountant and has more than 32 years direct experience in international banking and finance. Sachin spent 18 years with the HSBC Group where he held senior executive positions with including Head of Treasury Services, Head of Finance, Chief Accounting Officer, COO & CFO. Sachin has been a member of HSBC Australia’s Risk Committee and Asset Liability Committee. He also led business acquisitions and disposals for HSBC Australia during his term. 

Sachin was a Responsible Manager (RM) for HSBC’s Australian banking entities and HSBC Precious Metals (Australia) Limited for 7 years. The RM responsibilities were for global markets which included operations in foreign exchange, futures, derivatives, money market products and capital markets.

Sachin also holds a NSW Real Estate License and has been a consultant to Property Developers over the past 5 years assisting in investment decisions on medium to large projects. Sachin has also been an asset and risk manager for Norwest Funds Management for the past 4 years and a Responsible Manager for Wharton Capital Limited.

Sachin has significant experience in global markets, residential property, economic market principles and together with his Accounting skills and previous Responsible Manager duties is also well versed in governance and compliance frameworks.

Simon McKean

Responsible Manager

With over 30 years of experience in global financial markets, strategy and governance, Simon adds both a layer of independence and commercial aptitude to the team at Guardian. Simon’s breadth of experience includes working for the largest investment banks across the world as well as venture startups, hedge funds and charitable organisations.
Simon began his career with EY, moving with them from Australia to the US. He later relocated to London with JPMorgan where he focused on the bank’s HNW client base and equity derivatives. Subsequent years saw Simon move back to Australia where he worked in hedge funds, wealth management as well as a range of fiduciary roles before he took up his positions in a number of tech start-ups and charitable organisations.
Simon is a Chartered Accountant by trade as well as a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
